Cathy Schaetzle spent a wonderfully fulfilling forty year career as an urban educator with the Dayton Public Schools.  After teaching seventh and eighth graders for twenty-three years, she was forced to teach ninth graders for sixteen years but loved every minute of it.  She taught tenth graders one year but quickly learned that sixteen year old people know everything already.  She earned her undergraduate degree at Youngstown State University, home of the fighting penguins, and her graduate degree from the University of Dayton.  She earned National Board Certification in 2001.  Probably the greatest joy of her life is the friendship with former students and many of the forty young teachers she mentored.  When she retired five years ago, she knew her career had not ended.  Few days pass that she is not using her teaching skills.  Sometimes she even needs to use her teacher voice.

Me-Chelle Burkhalter is in her 8th year teaching at The Wellington School teaching Middle School Math and Science. She has been the varsity softball coach since 2012.
